hot air balloon…inspired by

You never know where you are going to get your inspiration from.  While surfing the net months ago I came across a blog – Stephmodo – which is a food and lifestyle blog.  She was having a party for her daughter and chose hot air balloons as the theme.

She made little gift boxes thata were so darling – I used them as my inspiration for this card:

The balloon is a $1 stamp from Michaels, the mountains are a stamp from Alexstamping and the sentiment and numbers are from Limited Edition.  The coloring was done with copic markers, with memento sky and paris dusk sponged in the background.

I used decorative scissors to make the stamp border, but I will be glad to get my hands on the new Spellbinders Postage Stamp dies – they are much better looking than my attempt here!

The gift boxes that inspired me are these – each one contained on small hot air balloon pendant – aren’t these just darling?

watercolored fish

Yesterday’s inspiration challenge at SCS had me reaching for my  fish stamps from Fred Mullett.

I started by inking up the fish image in several waterbased markers.  Three shades each of yellow and blue (light, medium and dark) were applied directly to the image which was then lightly spritzed with water and stamped on watercolor paper.   The intent was to keep the main panel clean and simple

I added the postage images (from Limited Edition) and text (from Above The Mark) on the main panel, with the text stamped on the base card as well.  Paper piercing on the lower right was added to draw the eye fron the upper left corner to the lower right.

The piece that inspired this card is show below.

ATC’s

Here are a couple of ATC’s that I did some time ago. I like doing these, because you can usually use your scraps to make them. I’ve traded these in the past, but was at a loss of what to do with the ones I received. I’ve included several in my scrapbook pages and some I’ve used in my journals to brighten up the pages a bit. What do you do with yours?

(Palm ATC: stamps by Art Impressions, SU, Limited Edition and Wordsworth, decorative scissors, marvy markers, watercolor and teal paper; Martini ATC: stamps I think are from Rubbernecker, marvy markers, white and red paper)
