coloring on kraft

Hello friends!

So – fellow stampers – you set out to do some crafting and get out the markers or other coloring medium and naturally reach for the white cardstock, right?   How about a little change of pace?   Do some coloring on kraft or other colored cardstock!  Here is my sample.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black.  Then…..I colored all the images with a white prisma pencil – yes!! – a white pencil overlay to start.  I saw this technique in a magazine many years ago and never go around to trying it until today.  The white base adds just another layer and helps with the blending so the colors don’t look flat.  It’s very easy to do and you really can’t go wrong because you are building up different colors along the way.   For example, the ocean section started out white then I added three different shades of blue (dark to light) on top.   Once I was finished with the color I went over the section with a blender pencil.

The main images are from Mark’s Finest Papers and the background compass/map is from Harmonie (it was stamped in versamark).

clean and simple monday

It’s been awhile since I participated in the CAS challenge over at SCS, but today is one of those clean and simple days!

Up here in Northwest Florida it looks like we are going to dodge the Tropical Storm Debbie bullet as it seems the worst of it will be east of us.  Here is hoping everyone affected by this storm is doing ok.  We’re just getting into the start of hurricane season here and it is always touch and go when these storms come our way.

So – a little  easy coloring and clean and simple sketch is in order.

 

I stamped the image on Copic X-press it paper and colored with copics.  I used the same image with versamark on the base card.  The patterned paper is from Memory Box and the ribbon is really seam binding.  I think the cardstock is from SU – its just something I pulled from my stash to go with the colors in the patterned paper.

Today’s set, Island Life, is my favorite of the releases this month.  I love anything beachy and can see the images in this set used not just for birthday, but also for holiday cards that I send to my family up north.

This no-layer card was done on heavy weight watercolor paper.  The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with watercolors.  It was quick and easy – and you end up with a card that is a breeze to mail!

I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink – paper pieced the card with paper from Basic Grey’s Indian Summer line.  A clean and simple card that used the bold colors in this paper to make the image pop.

Island Life

Here is the final sneak peek for Mark’s Finest Papers.  This set, to be released next week, is called Island Life.  I am loving this set.  Living in Florida I am always  on the lookout for beachy type images and I love the ones on this set.  Here is my card.

I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on watercolor paper and colored with watercolor pencils.

I’m In Stitches

Here is a sneak peek at one of the new sets to be released from Mark’s Finest Papers next week – a great sewing set called I’m In Stitches.

 

I stamped the images in Memento London Fog and Rich Cocoa.   The patterned paper is from ColorBok and has a nice vintage feel to it.

sneak peek – Silly Shells

Welcome friends to another sneak peek day!  Today I am showing stamps from the soon to be released set from Mark’s Finest Papers called Silly Shells.

I love all types of beachy stamps and this shell set will be one of those that I go to again and again.  I chose a clean and simple layout – the images are stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with copics.   I sponged memento sand and sky inks for the background.

sneak peek – poppies

Today I am showing a sneak peek from one of the soon to be released sets from Mark’s Finest Papers – a set called Welcome Poppies.

 

I chose a clean and simple layout – and thought the elegant look of the poppies – stamped in Memento London Fog – would go pefect with the grey and pink color scheme.   I’ve always felt a well drawn image should look great stamped simply in one color or stamped and colored in and this poppy image works beautifully without any coloring.
