Father’s Day Card

Hello stampers and happy June! I have a simple Father’s Day card to share with you. I created this using my Scor-Pal, vellum paper, kraft cardstock and an old image that I colored with copics.

To start I created a plaid background on vellum paper using my Scor-Pal. You need to be careful using vellum because if you score to hard it can tear the paper.

I scored at 1″ intervals..

Then I tuned the paper and scored again at 1″ intervals..

Then I scored at .25″ after each of the 1″ scores..

Once that was done, I mounted the vellum paper onto kraft cardstock.

To finish I colored the stamped image with copics and popped it up on the card base.

Peace Christmas card

Hello stampers! I’ve been busy doing all the holiday activities and wanted to show you one of the cards I made this season.

This lovely card was easy to put together. The base card is a shimmery gold card stock that I had in my stash for years and I really only bring it out during the holiday season. I wish you could see how pretty it is in real life. I embossed it with an old Cuttlebug embossing folder. The Peace stamp is an oldie – stamped and embossed in in gold. An oval die cut was used to accent the shape. I added a strip of gold mirrored card stock behind the sentiment to make it stand out.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope your holiday season is going well!

Fresh Strawberries

/

I’ve used 2 different stamp sets to make this cute card. Both sets are oldies but goodies and no longer available. The Seed Packet image is called Seeds of Friendship and the Strawberry stamp are both from Flourishes.

I colored the image with copic markers and added it to a base card embossed with a swiss dot embossing folder.

A button and gingham ribbon finish it off.

Wild For Watermelon

Hello stampers and happy summertime to all of you!  I have a fun summery card for you today..

It’s wild for watermelon!

I love watermelon – there is just nothing better on a hot summer day than a piece of  sweet and messy watermelon.

This card uses an old stamp set that is no longer available.  Drawn by Marcella Hawley for Flourishes years ago.

I stamped it with Memento ink and colored it with copic markers – shades of YG and RV.

The green embossed paper is from a pad I purchased at Michaels.  The angled and scalloped edge dies are from MFT I believe.

I hope you are keeping cool this summer!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Clean and Simple – and using old stamps!

Hello stampers!  Happy May 4th to all you Stars Wars fans!

Today’s card is a clean and simple  one.  And I have to confess…it uses some old stamps.  Stamps I have had for so long they are no longer available – and the kicker is this is the first time I have used them…..

I know you can relate!

I stamped the images using Memento inks on watercolor paper.  Not the best ink for watercolor paper but It is what I grabbed first.  Because the paper has a texture to it I had to use a stamping platform to stamp – they needed to be inked and stamped twice to get the impression you see here.

The frame was created using a set of stitched rectangle dies – I think they are called  inside/outside dies.  I’ve had them for awhile and they are available at a number of online stores.

So today did not start out well…  This morning – even before I had my first cup of coffee – I was putting food in the dog dish and the top of the container that holds the dog food came off.  Ended up with dog food all over the kitchen floor.

Then I was finishing off this card.  The final step was putting the framed piece on the base card.

Of course I put it on upside down….but I was able to quickly and gently pull it off and place it back on right side up.

So I think I may just take it easy the rest of the day!

Got Eggs? Easter/Spring card

Hello crafters!  I know,  Easter is not until the end of April, but it is not to early to start thinking about spring flowers, bunnies, and pretty eggs!

The card is made with an old stamp set.  I love the images in it and would not part with it when I was doing a major destash.

I stamped the image in Memento ink and colored it with copics.  I used spellbinders dies for the circles and a cuttlebug embossing folder for the base card.

I have a video tutorial for the copic coloring. I hope you will watch and subscribe to my channel!

No line Orchid

Hello stampers!  I’ve set aside my Christmas crafting to do a little bit of coloring.  I’ve been trying – so hard!!! – to do this “no line” coloring thing and I am not sure I will ever get the hang of it.

The point is to stamp your image in a very light colored ink and then color it so it looks like there are no stamped lines.  It is supposed to give a more natural look .  Sigh…..well, here is my attempt.   I  have tried this many times and this is the best  I have come up with.

It’s a beautiful Orchid stamp and I used prisma pencils to color it.   I also stamped it on Kraft cards stock to play along in Power Poppy’s  Designing in the Dark challenge – the challenge is to create your project using a dark backdrop.  Details are here.

I am really hoping with (much) more practice I can get better…..

Hope your day is going well!

Halloween Treat Envelope

Hello crafters!  How is your September going?  All the stores are filled with things Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas and I thougth I would make a quick and easy Halloween treat envelope..

I used the WRMK 123 Punch board, but you can use any envelope punch board.

Here is a quick video on how I put it together

I made the envelope then added a few tags  to it.

The stamps are from an old Flourishes set.  I did not have any Halloween paper and my trips to Michael’s, JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby proved to be fruitless, so I went online and found some free (!!!!) Halloween paper.  It is from Shery K Designs and she offered a bunch of free stuff on her store.  Here is a link to the Halloween paper pack:

Christmas in July cont…..

Hello fellow crafters and welcome once again to Christmas in July.  This time I am sharing a tag made for a swap I am in – our task was to create a “neverending flip tag with a Christmas theme”

Here is the tag all folded up and ready for mailing.  The base tag is very easy – here are the dimensions:

Cut paper to 6″ by 10.5″ and score at 3.5″ and 7″. Trim the top corners to make a tag shape.

The “neverending” feature is how you fold the tag – sort of the start of an accordion fold.  Here is a very short video of how it looks when you open and flip through it.

How you decorate it is up to you!  I used a few stamped images (from Power Poppy, Papertrey and Flourishes) as well as some die cut tags, a die cut ornament (Spellbinders) and included some bakers twine.  The stamped images were colored with copics and I added some sparkle with a stardust gel pen.

Here is what the tag looks like open – both sides are decorated.

I created a band out of vellum and added a snowflake (Martha Stewart punch) to hold it all together, although that is not really necessary.

Sisterhood of Crafters

Hello stampers!  It’s time for another new challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters Blog!  Todays challenge theme is “I See Spots!”.  So anything with spots, dots, etc. is good to go.  Break out that dotted embossing folder, dotted ribbon, paper or stamps and enter in the challenge. All the details are here.

Here is my card for the challenge.

So, I know this is more of a summery card, but when I saw the theme of the challenge for some reason I thought of a Lemon stamp set I had and thought I could do something with the lemon slice.

Now here is a fun tip – this particular stamp itself is a “detail stamp”  – meaning the detail outline in the card (the redish/orange outline) is the actual stamp.  I did not want to color in all those lemon slices and needed to find a round solid stamp to fill in the color.  Since this is a clear stamp, all I did was turn the detail stamp over and use the back side as a solid image stamp.

Take a look at the photo below – I flipped the detail stamp over and used it as a solid stamp to make the circles.

Then I turned the stamp right side up to get the detail and stamped it in a darker color.

I wonder just how many other clear detail stamps I have that can be used in this manner?
