Mini Beach Bag with Scor-Pal

Hello friends! Today I have a cute little project using some beach themed paper and my Scor-Pal.

How about a mini beach bag? This little bag is just big enough for a small gift like earrings. You can modify the measurements to make it larger, but I love how this looks in a mini size.

Here is what you will need to make it:

Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape – both can be found here.

A piece of 8 x 8 patterned paper – for the bag section.

A small piece measuring 1.75″ x 3.25″ for the closure

2 pieces measuring .25″ x 5.5″ for the straps.

Take the 8″ x 8″ piece and score it at 2.25″ and 5.75″. Rotate once and score at 3.00″ and 5.00″. Fold and burnish on all the score lines and cut the flaps as shown below.

Fold the sides in…

Use scor-tape to secure these pieces – so that it will look like a box.

Take the other flaps and fold them over into the box and secure with Scor-Tape.

Now take the box and gently squeeze it to make the shape of a beach bag. You don’t want a harsh crease here..

To finish off the rest of the bag, I took the 1.75″ x 3.25″ piece and used it to hold the bag closed. On side was attached with Scor-tape and the front was attached with velcro.

The handles of the bag use the .25″ x 5.5″ strips – they were just attached with glue dots. I used some enamel dots to embellish.

Summertime mini treat bag

Well, it’s been a busy summer and I have not posted in over a month. Seems as though summertime just flies by – gardening, visits from family, and traveling. We are into August now and school is just around the corner, but it is still summer hot here in Florida.

I made this quick and easy mini treat bag with my Scor-pal, some embossed paper and summertime dies.

I started with a piece of embossed cardstock measuring 5 x 10.5. This cardstock came from a 12 x 12 pad of paper from Michaels which actually had 6 colors of cardstock with different embossed patterns. It was color on one side and white on the back, so I just used the white side for this project.

On the short side score at .75 on each end. On the long side score at 4.75 and 5.75.

Burnish and fold on the scor lines and cut the tabs shown below. I used Scor-tape to hold it together.

On the front I used a few summertime dies and cut them with patterned paper. The sentiment is from an old stamp set. The yellow ribbon holds the treat bag closed.

I hope your summer is going well and you are enjoying your favorite activities. I hope to get a jump on my holiday cards soon!

Scor-Pal Pinspired! Box in a Bag!

Hello crafters!  I am  here today to show you a project I did that was inspired by the Scor-Pal Pinterest Board – a Box in a Bag! The first one shown is a little larger than the one below it.

I can’t believe that in all the years of paper crafting that I have never made one of these.  I was inspired by this piece.

I decided to go with a nautical theme because I recently purchased a pad of 12″ paper at Michael’s called “Coastal Cove”  that included beachy and nautical papers.

You start by making a box – the “bag” portion of this project will be wrapped around this box, so you really don’t see the box unless you look inside.

For the smaller project you will need a piece of cardstock measuring 3 x 3 and score at .5″ all the way around.

For the medium piece, use a 4.5 x 4.5 piece of cardstock and score at 1″ all around.

You can find the Scor-Pal here and Scor-Tape here.

Cut the tabs and add scor-tape as shown.

Assemble to make the box

Now you will begin the bag portion where you wrap decorative paper around the outside of the box.

For the small project use a piece of decorative paper measuring 3.5 x 8.5.

For the medium project use a piece of decorative paper measuring 5.5 x 11.

Place Scor-Tape on the inside of the decorative paper along the bottom and on one side.

Take your box about halfway on one side and start wrapping the paper around it.  Take care to line up the bottom of the box with the bottom edge of the paper.

Continue moving the box along the bottom edge of the paper ..

Keep wrapping the box around the paper until you have completely covered the box.

Now you can start decorating.  I used a small piece of coordinating paper and wrapped it around the bottom of the bag, and also used the same paper to make handles.

Add decorative elements and ribbon or twine to the front and you are done!

Here is a close up look at how I embellished mine.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you check out the Scor-Pal Pinterest board for more inspiration!

Nautical Birthday Card

Hello fellow crafters!  I hope everything is going well with you.  Today starts the first day of school in our area – earlier than some of you and much earlier than when I attended school!  This must mean fall is right around the corner.

Today I am sharing a birthday card I made for a family member.  It is so hard to come up with masculine cards and I had some nautical dies in my stash for awhile that I had not used and thought I would put them to good  use. I went with a clean and simple design.

The embossed background is from a folder I picked up at JoAnns and it fits perfect with the theme of this card.

The ship in a bottle die – can’t recall where I got this as I have no original packaging and it was in my stash under “nautical/beach” stuff!  The sentiment is from Papertrey.

Flamingo Fun – Life is a Beach!

Hello stampers – are you ready for a summer card?  How about flamingos on a beach?

I made this card as a birthday card for a family member who loves flamingos.

All the stamps are from the Inkadinkado Flamingo Fun stamp set.  As much as I love all the stamps on this set (which is rare for me) I really don’t like the quality of these stamps, and many of the other stamps being sold at the big box stores.  They are made in China – I don’t believe they are polymer but silicone, which just does not stamp well.  These types of stamps will require a stamp positioner or some type of stamping platform because you will have to stamp it twice to get a good impression.  While I like the price (everyone buys these with their 40% or more off coupon), the quality is just not good.

Ok – just my two cents, moving on!!

Using a stamp positioner I stamped the image with memento tuxedo black ink and used a copic marker to make sand on the bottom.  I want to give a shout out to Sandy Allnock for a recent video she had on her YouTube channel that showed how she did a water and sand scene with a flamingo.  I followed her instructions to make this card

I added water to the card with a couple of blue copics and then colored up the flamingo with RV markers.

I aded some sand and a palm tree to complete the scene.

Finally I found some flamingo scrapbook paper and decided to make a coordinating envelope with my WRMK 123 Punch Board!    The paper is from a DCWV paper pack called Watercolor and the flamingos are gold .

Tropical Christmas

It’s the eve of Christmas Eve – and I hope all my crafty friends are doing well.  I was able to finish and mail all my holiday cards out in time this year – something that did not happen last year!  I hope I can start the new year by doing Christmas cards each month to avoid the rush at year end.

Here is my tropical Christmas card – I love this image!

The image is a digital stamp that I got from From The Heart Digital Stamps and is perfect for this Floridian!  I printed it on Copic X-Press it paper and colored it with copics. An embossed background and minimal embellishments are all that was needed.  I know I will use this stamp again – maybe make a nighttime scene.

So – Merry Christmas to all of you!  I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful holiday!

Christmas by the beach

Hello again crafty friends!  Today I have another tropical type Christmas card to show you.

blue-beach-wreath

The wreath can be used for any occasion and since I live in Florida it is perfect for me to use for Christmas.  I made two versions of the same card.  The one above used tradition blues, pale pinks and neutral browns along with some pops of red to bring a little Christmas color into it.  You can’t tell from the photo, but some of the shells have little pops of glitter on them.  The image was colored with copics.

The second version has more red to tie into the holiday season and uses kraft cardstock to add a balance against the red.  The image is from Flourishes.

Thanks for stopping by – there are more holiday cards to show – hopefully I can get them posted before the Thanksgiving  activities take hold!

Tis the season

I’ve used this stamp before but never in a Christmas card .   Using non traditional stamps for holiday cards are a great way to get full use out iof them and is a nice change from the usual holiday images.

christmas-beach

The stamp is from Stampendous and I’ve had it for many years.  it was colored with copics .   the sentiment was computer generated .

I’ll be sharing more of my holiday cards over the next week so be sure to stop by.

sending sunshine

It’s hard to believe that some areas of the US are still getting snow – so glad I live in Florida!!  So – I decided to send some warmth up north via this card.

It was inspired by Theresa Mombers design shown here.  I used an image from Viva Las Vegas stamps along with Memento’s Dandelion and Cantelope ink for the sun.

getting ready for warm weather

I have not blogged for awhile – just busy with life, that’s all!!    We’ve been doing some traveling and keeping busy with other things and my crafting has taken a bit of a vacation.

So…now is the time to get back into the swing of things.  I’m teaching a copic class this Saturday at the Gulf Coast Crop-n-Shop weekend at the Emerald  Coast Convention Center in Fort Walton Beach and I thought I would show one of the cards we are making:

The sandcastle image is from Impression Obsession and the sentiment from Papertrey.  This was a relatively easy image to color.  I used copics E30, E21 and E26 for the main image, along with G82, G85 Y11 and R27 for the fence, grass, sun and sand pail.  The sky was sponged using Memento Summer sky ink.  This could easily become a holiday card – I love to use beachy type images for my holiday cards that I send to my family up north.
