Clean and Simple

Hello stampers – I have a card for you to help get us in the mood for spring! I know it is still over a month away, but we can all start dreaming for warmer weather

This was a quick and easy card to put together, but I cannot take credit for the design. I saw this overall design on Facebook and saved it to my phone, but the photo did not have the name of the cardmaker on it. I am hoping to find out who she is and give proper credit!

EDIT: I discovered the card that was my inspiration. It was a card by Rachel Duong – here is a look at it.

For my card I started with Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, cut out a stitched circle for the opening on the front panel. Then I lined up the front panel to the card itself and penciled around the opening so that I could stamp the image to fit inside the circle.

The image is an old one from Savvy Stamps and was colored with prisma pencils. The sentiment is from Papertrey.

No line Orchid

Hello stampers!  I’ve set aside my Christmas crafting to do a little bit of coloring.  I’ve been trying – so hard!!! – to do this “no line” coloring thing and I am not sure I will ever get the hang of it.

The point is to stamp your image in a very light colored ink and then color it so it looks like there are no stamped lines.  It is supposed to give a more natural look .  Sigh…..well, here is my attempt.   I  have tried this many times and this is the best  I have come up with.

It’s a beautiful Orchid stamp and I used prisma pencils to color it.   I also stamped it on Kraft cards stock to play along in Power Poppy’s  Designing in the Dark challenge – the challenge is to create your project using a dark backdrop.  Details are here.

I am really hoping with (much) more practice I can get better…..

I Brake For…..Large Lily!

Hello stampers and welcome to another Wednesday with  I Brake For Stamps!  I hope your Easter was wonderful!  And I am sorry that some of you are experiencing some spring snow – I hope it all melts quickly so that you can start enjoying spring.

Here is my card for today…

I am using the lovely stamp called Large Lily with  Forever, found HERE.

It’s a beautifully drawn Lily with the Asian forever symbol  I’ve colored it with prisma pencils. Once the coloring was finished I cut the lily blossom out, popped it up on the main panel to give it a little dimension.

I pulled out some orange/yellow patterned paper from my stash  – the colors on the paper worked well with what was used on the lily.

I Brake For….. CANNING JARS!

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps!  I hope everything is going well with you, wherever you may be.  We are just a couple of weeks away from the official start of spring – are you feeling any warm weather yet?

My card for today is more about summer and fall than spring…do any of you can fruits and vegetables?  My husbands family used to do a lot of canning, but my family never really got into it.  But I saw this adorable stamp and had to have it.

I colored the image with prisma pencils and used a stitched rectangle die to cut it out.  A scallop border punch and banner tag dies were also used to embellish the card. I found the yellow polka dot paper in my stash – have had it for years and thought the color was perfect for the card.

I Brake For…Florals Sheet

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps.  My last two cards were all about fall, so this week I decided to go in a different direction and use this great floral set…

The stamps are part of a set called Florals Sheet that can be found here.  The great thing about this set is that not only does it include these open images in three sizes, but also has the same flower in solid images as well.   Additionally it includes several sentiments and a bouquet stamp.  It’s a great deal for the cost.

I went with a clean and simple design for the card.  Stamping all three sizes of the flower along the side of the card.   Breaking from my normal use of copic markers, I decided to use prisma pencils here – choosing a color scheme of blues and purples.

For the blue flowers I used :  Cloud Blue, Blue Violet Lake, Cerulean Blue, and Indanthrone Blue

For the purple flowers I used:  Greyed Lavender, Imperial Violet and Dioxazine Purple Hue

The centers were shaded with Black and Cool Grey.

The birthday sentiment is one of the stamps included in this set.

I Brake For….Wine And Grapes!

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday and I Brake For Stamps.  My card today features the beautifully drawn Wine And Grapes stamp..

I really enjoyed coloring this one up.  I’ve been taking an online class using colored pencils and wanted to try out what I learned on this image.  One thing I’ve learned from the class is patience.  I am not a patient crafter – I think it goes back to the days when I first started stamping and it seems like every class or get together was focused on how many cards we could make in the time we had together.  That created a rush mentality for me that has carried on throughout the years.  However this particular class I am currently taking focuses on different parts of a stamp and taking your time to color each section.

It’s been a real eye opener for me and I find that taking the time to just get one card done, and done well, is much more satisfying than getting three cards done in the same time that may not turn out as nice.  That being said, I still like those “stamp and go” cards.  Especially around the holidays when I need to get a few clean and simple cards out.

I used a bunch of prisma pencils for this image:

Grapes:  Dioxazine Purple Hue,  Dark Purple, Imperial Violet, Lilac and a touch of Lime Peel on a few of the grapes

Leaf and Stems – Prussian Green,  Kelp Green, Moss Green

The Wine bottle and Glass use the same colors.  For the Wine Bottle, I combined some green and purple pencils to try and mimic the look of a green wine bottle filled with red wine.  For the label on the bottle of wine I scribbled a name and framed it out with a bronze pencil.

I went back and forth as to how to use the image on a card and decided on framing it within a stitched rectangle die with a purple mat on green cardstock.

This image would be great for a birthday card for wine lovers, a thank you card, or house warming gift card.   If you are heading out to a party this holiday season this image would look great paired with a bottle of wine!

petunias times two

Good morning crafty friends!  Are you enjoying your spring?  Everything is bursting with color here in north Florida.  The azaleas are blooming all around with shades of pink, purple and white.  We’ve been busy over the past month – planting a vegetable garden (tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and onions). We’ve also added a new weeping plum tree and two hydrangea bushes.  I am looking forward to watching everything grow.

Here are two springtime cards using a lovely Petunia stamp from Creative Visions (found here) – this red rubber image comes in two different sizes.

On this first card I embossed the image in white and sprayed colorwash inks to get a bright watercolor effect.  The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart.  The stitching on the white panel was done on my silhouette machine.

On the second card I take the same image and color it with prisma pencils and sponged with memento ink for the background.  The background paper is basic grey and the ribbon is from May Arts.

Good morning and I hope your Easter Sunday is glorious!  Here is an Easter card for you.

The image was stamped with memento tuxedo black ink and colored with prisma pencils.  And embossing folder was used to add some nice texture for the frame, basic grey paper and may arts ribbon finish it off.

This image is from Creative Vision stamps – called Easter Egg in grass –  and can be found here.  You get two sizes of this stamp – this is the smaller of the two.

winter wishes

I’m just about finished with my Christmas cards – here are my latest two.  I used the same stamp set for both with just a few changes.

In this first card the main image – colored with prisma pencils -is  mounted on a tag created in Silhouette.  Snowflakes on the blue cardstock are embossed in white.  The coloring was quick and easy.

 

The hills are made a bit more festive by adding some Martha Stewart glitter – here is a close up

 

The main image and sentiment are from Papertrey, and the snowflakes are from Hero Arts.

The second card uses the same image but is mounted on a white base.  I drew the hills in on the base card.

 

Glitter was also used here – both on the main panel as well as on the hills drawn on the base card.

blue blossoms

Here is another example of stamping on colored cardstock then using prisma pencils to color in the image.

I colored the blossoms with a white pencil, then used a light and dark shade of blue over the white. Prisma pencils in Powder Blue and Copenhagen were used.  I used a “spatter” stamp in white ink to add a little detail to the main panel.  The sentiment is from Papertrey and was stamped and embossed in white.  The pearls started out white and I used a copic marker to color them to match the blue used on the card.
