Christmas Card with Penny Black stamps

How about a clean and simple card for Christmas? This one is elegant but can be made easily in batches.

I used the Penny Black stamp called Nature’s Ornament. I embossed it in gold on some shimmery cardstock. You can’t tell from the photo but the cardstock has a shimmery gold look to it – perfect for this card. I matted the card front onto gold metalllic cardstock before adhering it onto the base card.

Here is an up close look of the embossed card.

Holiday Box – Scor-Pal Monthly Challenge

Happy November everyone!!  I hope your Halloween went off without a hitch.  We now roll into the Thanksgiving and Christmas season and I am ready!!  I have a gift box to share with you that I created for the November “More Than One Score” challenge on the Scor-Pal blog.

This month we want to see your Gift Packaging creations.

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will.   Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.

The box I made measures 3.5″ wide by 7″ long and 2″ deep, so it is a nice size for gifts. As you can see from the photos I made the top to fit so that you see the bottom portion of the box.

Note:  I have a square version of this as well – keep reading to the bottom of this post!!

For the bottom I started with a sheet of patterned paper measuring 11 x 7.5.  I scored it at the 2″ mark on all sides.  The Scor-Pal can be found HERE and Scor-Tape can be found HERE.

Cut the tabs as shown below

Add scor tape on the tabs and assemble the box.

For the top I used a piece of coordinating patterned paper measuring 9 1/8″ x 5 5/8″.  I scored at the 1″ mark on all sides.  I cut the tabs in a similar manner to the bottom and added scor-tape as shown.

Here is the box without any embellishments.

Once the box was completed I simply added some die cuts to make a tag.  I think most of the dies are from Memory Box.  I had some red burlap in my stash that I used to tie it all together.

Here is the  square version  of this box:

To make the square version:

For the bottom use a piece of 8″ x 8″ paper and score at 2″ on each side.

For the top use a piece of 6 1/8″ x 6 1/8″ paper and score at 1″ on each side.

Cut the tabs in a similar manner as shown in the rectangular box and assemble.

This square box measures 4 x 4 by 2″ deep.

The die tag is from Penny Black.

I hope you will take part in this months challenge!!  It’s a great way to get going on your packaging for the holidays.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Spring Gift Bag

Hello crafters and a Happy Easter to you!  I hope most of you are enjoying the warm spring weather.    I have a pretty gift bag for you today.

I used some pretty patterned paper from a DCWV paper pack called Watercolor.  It is heavy duty and double sided as well.  A Scor-Pal and Scor-tape were used to create the bag.  Here are the dimensions and scoring guides:

Paper size:  12 x 7.5

Score at:

On the short side:  1.75

On the long side:  1.75, 5.75, 7.5 and 11.5

See the photo below for how I cut the paper to make flaps for the bottom.\

The tag uses a scalloped, stitched die.  I stamped a Penny Black stamp – called The Unfolding with water based markers.  The sentiment is from a Power Poppy set.

These bags are very quick and easy to do, and if you have some spare paper lying around (and what paper crafter doesn’t?)  make a few bags to have on hand!

Autumn birthday

Hello stampers..welcome to Octber!  We are now officially in the holiday season as we count down to Halloween,  Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Today I have a clean and simple autumn card.

I created this using the Penny black stamp called Softly and it’s coordinating stencil, along with memento inks. The simple lines on this stamp lend it to almost any occasion.

I started by stamping the image with black ink.

Then I placed the matching stencil over the stamped image and sponged on two shades of green ink, lightest first, over the leaves and stems.

Once that was done I sponged three colors of yellow/orange over the flower portions.

I die cut a smaller piece and did the same thing.   A sentiment from Papertrey was used on this front panel.
