Summertime Gift Box – Scor-Pal monthly challenge

Hello crafters and happy June!  I hope you are all enjoying wonderful summertime weather.

Today starts a new challenge over at the Scor-Pal Blog.  Each month Scor-Pal hosts a “more than one score” challenge with a theme.  This months theme is “Warmer Days” – think summer, warm colors, etc.  The challenge requires you to make a card or project with more than one score that fits the theme of the month.  All the details are on the Scor-Pal bog here.

My project is a cute gift box and I had such fun making this.  Essentially it is two boxes, one that fits over the other.

I used my Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape, along with some circle and border dies, a small stamp and paper from a DCWV paper pack called Watercolor.  I really love this paper – it is a nice weight and double sided.  The patterns are great for summer – fruits, flowers and flamingos!   I have a video tutorial below, but here are the measurements to get you started:

For the top:  Paper size 4 5/8 x 11.75

Score on the short side at 1 5/8

Score on the long side at 1 5/8, 5 5/8, 7.25 and 11.25

For the bottom:  Paper size 5.5 x 11.5

Score on the short side:  1.5

Score on the long side:  1.5, 5.5, 7.0, and 11.0

You can find the scor-pal here and scor-tape here!

Please check out this video on how to put it all together.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Flamingo Fun – Life is a Beach!

Hello stampers – are you ready for a summer card?  How about flamingos on a beach?

I made this card as a birthday card for a family member who loves flamingos.

All the stamps are from the Inkadinkado Flamingo Fun stamp set.  As much as I love all the stamps on this set (which is rare for me) I really don’t like the quality of these stamps, and many of the other stamps being sold at the big box stores.  They are made in China – I don’t believe they are polymer but silicone, which just does not stamp well.  These types of stamps will require a stamp positioner or some type of stamping platform because you will have to stamp it twice to get a good impression.  While I like the price (everyone buys these with their 40% or more off coupon), the quality is just not good.

Ok – just my two cents, moving on!!

Using a stamp positioner I stamped the image with memento tuxedo black ink and used a copic marker to make sand on the bottom.  I want to give a shout out to Sandy Allnock for a recent video she had on her YouTube channel that showed how she did a water and sand scene with a flamingo.  I followed her instructions to make this card

I added water to the card with a couple of blue copics and then colored up the flamingo with RV markers.

I aded some sand and a palm tree to complete the scene.

Finally I found some flamingo scrapbook paper and decided to make a coordinating envelope with my WRMK 123 Punch Board!    The paper is from a DCWV paper pack called Watercolor and the flamingos are gold .

Spring Gift Bag

Hello crafters and a Happy Easter to you!  I hope most of you are enjoying the warm spring weather.    I have a pretty gift bag for you today.

I used some pretty patterned paper from a DCWV paper pack called Watercolor.  It is heavy duty and double sided as well.  A Scor-Pal and Scor-tape were used to create the bag.  Here are the dimensions and scoring guides:

Paper size:  12 x 7.5

Score at:

On the short side:  1.75

On the long side:  1.75, 5.75, 7.5 and 11.5

See the photo below for how I cut the paper to make flaps for the bottom.\

The tag uses a scalloped, stitched die.  I stamped a Penny Black stamp – called The Unfolding with water based markers.  The sentiment is from a Power Poppy set.

These bags are very quick and easy to do, and if you have some spare paper lying around (and what paper crafter doesn’t?)  make a few bags to have on hand!
