Happy Birthday Card

Hello stampers! I’m popping in today to show you a card I made for my husbands birthday. He likes the color blue so I made sure to use that color. I did not want it to be to over the top, but wanted some hearts on it so I used some die cut hearts for embellishments.

The embossing folder is an old one from Cuttlebug – probably one of the first I bought way back when! I cut out the square from the front panel using a die. Made the frame by using two square dies, one smaller than the other and cutting it out – see below.

The heart dies are from Impression Obsession and I think are called Heart Stems. The sentiment is from an old Papertrey stamp set.

Valentine Treat Box – Scor-Pal

Happy February everybody!  I hope your winter is going well and not too cold.  This is the start of a new month and a new Scor-Pal challenge.

Each month the Scor-Pal blog will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will.  Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.  You can find the Scor-Pal here.

This month the theme is Valentines, or Anything Goes!  Check out all the details on the Scor-Pal blog here.

This month I created a cute Valentine Treat box that has a pinwheel top.

I started by taking a piece of patterned paper measuring 11.5 x 8.25 and scoring it on the long side at 2.75, 5.50, 8.25 and 11.

On the short side score at 2.75 and 5.50

Fold on all the score lines and make cuts as shown below.

Decide which end is going to be the top.  Then you are going to make a series of folds to make the pinwheel design.

First, fold the flap diagonally as shown below.

Next fold the corner up as follows:

Then tuck the fold you just did underneath.  Once this is done you can secure it with adhesive.

Your flaps should now look like this and will be the basis for the pinwheel.

Next assemble the box as you normally would.  To make the pinwheel top, just fold over each section – the last flap you will tuck inside.

To finish it off I just added some die cut hearts and an arrow.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you will check out all the projects on the Scor-Pal blog.

Perfect Palette Heart Die

Hello crafters!  I hope the summer heat is not getting you down.  It’s a perfect time to stay in your air conditioned craft room and create!

Today’s card is simple, but a special one.  My husband and I are celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary today!  After all these years its hard to come up with new designs for my card to him, so I just went with a simple design, although this turned out different than my original intent.

I started with the Perfect Palette Heart Die from Lil Inkers.  I cut it out and was intending to use this pretty beach sunset as a background to show through the heart cut outs.

I lined up the die so that the sunset would show through the  bottom left heart.

Once I cut the sunset paper and started putting the card together, I just did not like the way it looked.  I tried different colored card stock, I was just not feeling it.  So I went in another direction.

I placed only nine of the hearts, lined them up on my mat so that they were even and used repositionable tape to hold them together.

Then I just transferred them to a white cardstock base, matted it with some purple cardstock and finished the card.   I’m happy with the final result – hearts and sunset!

Clean and simple Valentine

Hello crafty people!  Just a quick post today to show you a very simple and quick valentine card.  It took about 5 minutes total.

It consists of washi tape, a heart die and computer generated sentiment.  I put some musical washi tape on a piece of scrap cardstock and cut the heart die out of it.

I put foam tape on the back of the die cut to pop it up and  added this to a panel that I had printed the sentiment on and used a stitched rectangle die to cut it out.  Since the washi tape is in brown tones I matted the front panel with some kraft cardstock.

This could be easily done with any heart die, and using a musical score stamp if you don’t have washi tape.

I Brake For….Love Text Background & More!

Hello my fellow stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps.  I’m all about Love and Valentines today!

I used three different stamps on this card  and proved to myself that almost any stamp can be made into a Valentine if you use red and white paper and ink.   Take a look at the heart details in the photo below.

I cut out 3 heart shapes (Silhouette cut files) on red and white paper.  Then used three different stamps:

The largest heart has the Love Text Background stamp found here:  I stamped it with a bold red ink.

The smaller white heart uses the Buttercups stamp – found here.  It almost has a toile feel to it.  The same red ink was used.

The small red heart was stamped with the Large Flower Background stamp found here – using versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

Take a look at your floral and background stamps and see how they look stamped on a heart shape!

The word “love” is a  silhouette cut file as well.  The background is a heart embossing folder

Now, the pillow box – this was so easily done I should make more of these.  The file is a silhouette cut file.  I used the Love Text Background stamp and embossed it in  white.  Here is a close up of the design without the ribbon.  This is so pretty – it would be perfect for a wedding favor as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.   Head on over to the IBFS store – there are a ton of Love/Valentine stamps available and I know you will find something to your liking!

I Brake For….Heart Quilt!

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps!  Now that we are done with Christmas and New Years celebration, the next holiday on the horizon is Valentine’s Day.  You are already seeing hearts and flowers all over the place, but how about a nice warm quilt?

The stamp is called Heart Quilt and can be found here.

I love the homespun look of the image.  And while I used it for a Valentine’s Day card here, I can see this being used for a wedding card, or even a birthday card for a quilt maker.  My sister makes quilts and this image would be perfect for a card for here.

The color scheme possibilities are endless here.  I pulled out an old pad of Basic Grey paper that I love and used it as the inspiration for the colors of the quilt.  The pinks and reds work well for a valentine, and the touch of green softens it up.  I can see this done in a red, white and blue palette for patriotic days and how about a crisp red and white for Christmas?

Hope on over to the IBFS store – there are many love/valentine themed stamps for you to choose from.   I know you will find something there to your liking! Use code SAVE10NANCY and save 10% off your order.

I carry your heart with me

Hello friends – hope your Monday is going well. I have a valentine card to share with you..and some news at the end of this post. First, here are the cards.

The large card was made using a silhouette file that was generously shared by a fellow crafter on a facebook group I belong to. The file is actually three panels of heart shapes – which each panel the hearts are smaller and when you put them all together it had a nice dimensional look. I used foam tape to pop the layers up, but that is not necessary. On the front I added a couple of hearts along with a sentiment that was computer generated – the first two lines of one of my favorite love poems – i carry your heart – from e.e. commings. Here is a closer look at the front to show the three layers.

When these panels are cut you end up with many cut out hearts – a whole pile of them!! So I took nine of them and popped them up on a smaller panel and made the smaller card. I think it took longer for me to line up these nine hearts than it did to make the entire first card!

Now some news.. I don’t know if you noticed or not, but there is a new blog badge on the right side of my blog for I Brake For Stamps. I am now on the design team for this company and can’t wait to show you what I’ve made with their stamps. Come back on Wednesday for my first card. And save 10% on your purchases at their store when you use code SAVE10NANCY. They had thousands of stamps!!

love blooms

Hello my creative and crafty friends!  I hope you are all doing well.  It’s getting to the end of January and that means love is in the air!  Everywhere you look there are hearts and flowers and all things related to Valentine’s Day.  My husbands birthday is only 9 days after Valentine’s Day so I have double duty in February for card making.

Now…how do you get the most out of your stamps?  How about taking a Christmas image and turning it into one for Valentine’s Day?  Here is my card where I did just that:

The image is from Power Poppy’s Simple Joys Christmas set, but I made a little modification to turn it into a Valentine.  Take a side by side look at the original image and my version:

When I stamped the original image I inked up everything but the round ornaments – yes it was a little difficult to work my marker in between those branches but I did it!  Once I stamped it without the ornaments I penciled in some hearts, then went over them with a fine point marker.  After that it was just a matter of coloring the image in – I used copics  – and putting everything together.  You can’t tell from the photo but I added a little sparkle to the white berries with a stardust gel pen.

So turning this image from Christmas to Valentine worked for me.  And you could even do an Easter theme by drawing ovals instead of hearts.

I’m submitting this card over on the Power Poppy monthly “warm up” challenge – details found HERE.

I hope you can take a look at your stamp collection and see what other possibilities they may bring.

pretty in blue

I know it’s February and so many cards are in shades of pink and red, but I thought I would change it up a bit with a valentine card in blue and white!

The image and sentiment are from Mark’s Finest Papers – I love this image.  It was colored with several shades of copic markers in the B family on copic x-press it card stock.  The blue cardstock is called Dark Night Navy and is gorgeous!  It is also from MFP!

Nestabilites dies were used for all the cutouts.  A cuttlebug embossing folder was used to create the background.

sunny monday

What a beautiful day it is today here in sunny Florida!   We are having our usual wonderful warm weather  and I have a bright sunny card for today!

The images are from the newly released You Are Cherished set from Mark’s Finest Papers.   I love this black-eyed susan image and have several already colored in different shades.  This one is the more traditional yellow and orange shades – it was colored with various YR copic markers.

The green and patterned paper are from Basic Grey’s Kioshi line.  The gorgeous yellow paper and ribbon are from Mark’s Finest Papers – called Morning Sun  and it is a rich and vibrant yellow!

I also used an SU corner punch, a Martha Stewart border punch and a button and brad from my stash.
