Summer photo book with Scor-Pal

It is that time of year where so many of us are taking some time away from work and enjoying the good weather.

Each year we have family members come for a visit – we live near Pensacola Beach and they get a chance to enjoy our fantastic beaches. I decided to make a little photo book as a keepsake for the memories we will make. It will hold eight photos, although with a little creativity I can make it hold more if I want!

I made it using some beach themed scrapbook paper, my Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape.

I started with a piece of patterned paper measuring 12 x 5. I began scoring at the 4″ mark, then every .5 inch until I reached the 8″ mark.

I did accordion folds for the scored lines.

Then I used Scor-Tape to tape together the outer accordion folds – this will allow me to add the inside pages.

Then I placed scor-tape on the inside accordion folds..

There are a few ways to add pages to the inside. What I did was take a piece of cardstock measuring 7.5″ x 4.75″, scoring in half and adding it to the inside accordion sections.

Once I added the pages I embellished the front. The little photo book is held closed with velcro dots.

Father’s Day Card

Hello stampers and happy June! I have a simple Father’s Day card to share with you. I created this using my Scor-Pal, vellum paper, kraft cardstock and an old image that I colored with copics.

To start I created a plaid background on vellum paper using my Scor-Pal. You need to be careful using vellum because if you score to hard it can tear the paper.

I scored at 1″ intervals..

Then I tuned the paper and scored again at 1″ intervals..

Then I scored at .25″ after each of the 1″ scores..

Once that was done, I mounted the vellum paper onto kraft cardstock.

To finish I colored the stamped image with copics and popped it up on the card base.

3 Piece Box with Scor-Pal

HI everyone! I hope all is well wherever you are. Is the weather starting to warm up yet?

Today I am sharing with you a sweet 3 piece box that I made using paper, my Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape.

I have a link to a video tutorial for this below, but here are some of the highlights:

As you can see from the photo above – the box is in 3 pieces, two triangular outer pieces and one inside box.

To make a 3 inch box that is approximately 1.5″ high here are some details:

For the two triangular sections, you will need 2 pieces of paper measuring 7.5″ x 4.5″.

On the short side score at 3″, on the long side score at 3″ from each end.

For the inside box you will need a piece of cardstock measuring 5 7/8″ square. Score at the 1.5 ” mark on each side.

Please check out the video on how to put everything together.

Treat box with Scor-Pal

Hello crafters and welcome to February! I have a cute treat box you can make for Valentines Day.

This is for the Scor-Pal challenge this month – it is a “more than one score” challenge where you make anything that requires more than one score.

You can find the Scor-Pal HERE and Scor-Tape HERE.

I started with a sheet of patterned paper that was double sided -meaning patterns on both sides – measuring 12″ x 6″.

On the short side I scored at 1″ and 4.5″. On the long side I scored at 2″, 5.75″, 7.75″ and 11.5″.

I folded and burnished on all score lines and cut tabs as shown below.

Before you start adding scor-tape to assemble the box you will need to do two things”

First – fold over the top part – this is the 1″ section of the box. Then on the shorter side attach eyelets on the narrower sections – see photo below.

Once that is done, you can use score-tape to assemble the box and add ribbon through the eyelets.

For the front, I used a tag, banner, and heart die, along with an old stamp from Papertrey for a sentiment.

Ornament Gift Box

Hello crafters and happy December!! This is our month, right? Where all our creative pursuits are put on display.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are now in the spirit of Christmas.

Today I have a little project for you, using my Scor-Pal and Scor-Tape. The Scor-Pal designers have some wonderful projects as well – you can check them out on the Scor-Pal Blog.

Earlier this year I began to make some ornaments – these are no sew ornaments that are made by pinning folded fabric to a foam ball. I’ve posted a few of these on my blog.

My latest ornament is a star shaped one and I needed a different shaped box for it. Here is how I made it.

For the bottom I started with a piece of patterned paper measuring 8.5″ square. Score at the 2″ mark on each side. Fold and burnish the score lines and cut the tabs as shown below. Assemble the bottom.

For the top, use a 6 5/8″ square piece of patterned paper. Score at the 1″ mark on each side. However before you put the box together you will need to cut a circle out of the center.

Then attach a piece of transparency film to the inside of the box using Scor-Tape.

Once that is done, create a frame for the front by using sizes of circle dies. I used silver mirror cardstock for the frame here.

I attached snowflake die cuts to the front, then assembled the top.

Thankful For You

Hello crafters – it’s November and the holiday season is in full swing. Halloween is done and we are now into the Thanksgiving and Christmas rush. Today I am showing you an envelope I made with the Scor-pal and the Scor-Envi tool. And inside the envelope is a gift card holder.

I started by using the Scor-Envi tool to determine the size of the paper I needed and where to make the score lines. For this 5 x 5 envelope I used an 8.75″ square piece of patterned paper and scored at the 3.25 and 8.75 lines, then turning the paper once I made the same scores.

Once the scoring was complete, you cut out the little triangles where the score lines meet and then you can make the envelope.

For the inside gift card holder, I used a piece of patterned paper measuring 4.25 x 3. On the long side I scored at .25 on each end and on the short side I scored at 1″.

Then I made cuts as shown below.

From here I used scor-tape to attach the bottom flap.

I added this to the inside envelope along with a piece of patterned paper in which you can write a note.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you will check out the Scor-Pal Blog and see what the other designers have made this month!

Summertime mini treat bag

Well, it’s been a busy summer and I have not posted in over a month. Seems as though summertime just flies by – gardening, visits from family, and traveling. We are into August now and school is just around the corner, but it is still summer hot here in Florida.

I made this quick and easy mini treat bag with my Scor-pal, some embossed paper and summertime dies.

I started with a piece of embossed cardstock measuring 5 x 10.5. This cardstock came from a 12 x 12 pad of paper from Michaels which actually had 6 colors of cardstock with different embossed patterns. It was color on one side and white on the back, so I just used the white side for this project.

On the short side score at .75 on each end. On the long side score at 4.75 and 5.75.

Burnish and fold on the scor lines and cut the tabs shown below. I used Scor-tape to hold it together.

On the front I used a few summertime dies and cut them with patterned paper. The sentiment is from an old stamp set. The yellow ribbon holds the treat bag closed.

I hope your summer is going well and you are enjoying your favorite activities. I hope to get a jump on my holiday cards soon!

Scor-Pal Challenge – Patriotic!

Hello crafty friends!  I am back once again to kick off this months Scor-Pal challenge.  Each month Scor-Pal hosts a “more than one score” challenge with a theme.  This months theme is patriotic.  Just make a card or other item with more than one score with a patriotic flare.  You can find all the details on the scor-pal blog here.

For this challenge I made triangle treat boxes.

The box is easy to do and can be changed for any occasion just by switching out papers.  Here are the instructions:

You will need a scor-pal, scor-tape, paper, twine/ribbon, ruler and whatever embellishment works for your occasion.

You can get the Scor-Pal here and Scor-Tape here.

Paper size:  8.5 x 4

On the short side score at 1.5 and 3.5.  On the long side score at 2, 4, 6, and 8.

Next you will make two “short” scores.  On the long side score at 3 and 7, but only go down to the horizontal score.

Now you will make a few diagonal scores.  Take the cardstock out of the scor-pal and with a ruler line up the “short” scores with the corner – see photo.  These diagonal scores will allow you to make the triangular shape.

Fold and burnish on the score lines and cut as shown below.

Use scor-tape to put the box together.  Punch holes at the top and thread ribbon or twine.

The stars were made using a silhouette cut file and cardstock. I just cut a bunch of different sizes and attached them with foam tape.

A note about the patterned paper used for this project.  I did not have any patriotic paper and went looking on the internet for some.  I found these patterns as part of a FREE digital patriotic paper pack from The Cottage Market.  You can find this free paper pack here.

clean and simple wreath

Sometimes you just have to let the stamped image speak for itself.  While working on putting together this card I tried several ribbons, bling treatments, etc and nothing looked right.

So I just mounted the main panel on red and blue cardstock and placed it on a base white card that had been scored on the diagonal.

The image was colored with copics:  R46, R59, B24, B21, G24, G21, E27, E21.  I used a stardust gel pen to add a little sparkle on several places.  The pen is my favorite tool to use for holiday cards.

I chose the colors based on this fabric found on the Liberty site.  My blue is a little off, but I think it looks better with the greens and reds used on the wreath.

Sweet Peas and stick pins

Hello friends!

Are you almost ready for Thanksgiving?  Today is my grocery shopping day and my list seems to grow by the minute!  I’ve been doing so many holiday cards lately so I thought I’d do something floral for today.

I’ve used this particular sketch once before and thought it would work well with this Sweet Pea image (from Flourishes).  The image was stamped on copic x-press it blending cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with copic markers – V00, V01 and V04 with just a touch of C1 on the leaves.  I chose the colors to match SU’s lavender card stock.  IRL the color on the flowers is much closer to the color on the paper but the photo makes it look much brighter.  I used a scor pal to create the diamond pattern on the white background piece.

Now the stick pin……I started with a 3″ pin (it’s a corsage pin that you can get at craft stores or florists), added some beads to it and stuck it through the ribbon.  It was just too long for the card and looked really out of place so I decided to cut it down.  Here’s where I went wrong….I removed the pin from the ribbon (mistake), cut it down to about 1.5″.

Then I tried to stick it back through the ribbon.  Because I cut it down it was no longer sharp at the end (duh!!) so I had to force it through the ribbon.  On top of that I realized I probably cut too much off!  I think it would look just a tad better if it were just a little longer.  So lessons learned – keep the stick pin in the ribbon and don’t cut too much off!!
