Hydrangea Gift Box with Scor-Pal

Hello crafters and happy May! I hope you are all doing well. Today is the first of the month and a start to a new challenge on the Scor-Pal Blog. Each month the Scor-Pal blog hosts a “more than one score” challenge. This months theme is Mothers Day/Feminine. All you do is create a card or project that has more than one score – so a simple card will not do. Check out all the details on the blog here.

The Scor-Pal can be found here and Scor-Tape can be found here.

My project this month a a nice little gift box that I embellished with embossed panels for the sides and a hydrangea die for the top. Here is how I made it.

For the bottom of the box I started with a piece of white cardstock measuring 9.75″ square and scored it at 3.25″ on each side. I made a couple of cuts create the tabs and used Scor-Tape to put it all together. For this box I found that the 5/8″ Scor-Tape worked great.

To make the side panels, I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and embossed 4 pieces of cardstock. I placed one panel on each side of the box.

For the top of the box I used a piece of white cardstock measuring 5.75″ square and scored at 1.25″ on each side. I made similar cuts for the tabs and again used Scor-Tape to create the top.

To make the embellishment on top I used an old hydrangea die I have had for years. I cut the flowers from some purple/blue scrapbook paper and the leaves from green cardstock. I added some small pearls to the center of some of the flowers.

That’s it for today! I hope you like todays project and will play along with us. Please check out the Scor-Pal blog and see what the design team has made.

Thanks for stopping by today!

July More than One Score Challenge – Summer/Patriotic

Hello crafters!  It’s the start of the month and a new challenge over at the Scor-Pal blog!

This month we want to see your “Summer or Patriotic” creations.
We are making some changes to the challenges this year, we will have a theme that the Design Team will follow, and we would love you to follow too, but if you don’t want to you can do an “Anything Goes” creation as long as it follows the general rules
Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will 🙂 Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.

This month I went with a summery floral card.  And if I was thinking a bit more I might have made it with red, white and blue for the patriotic theme, but I had selected some patterned paper and was well into the project before it occurred to me.

As you can see, I did a stair step card, which is so easy to do.

Take a piece of cardstock measuring 4.25 x 11 and on the long side score at 1.25, 2.5, 6.0, and 8.25.  Fold and burnish to make the step portion of the card.

The base card itself is 4.25 x 5 1/8.

Then you can set out to embellish however you want.  I used several floral dies in both solid and patterned paper.

You can find the Scor-Pal here and Scor-Tape here.

I hope you hop on over the the Scor-Pal blog and play along!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Scor-Pal More than one Score Challenge May – Anything Goes/Feminine/Mother

Hello crafty friends and welcome to another Scor-Pal Challenge for the month of May.

Each month Scor-Pal has a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects.
You can find the Scor-Pal HERE.

The theme for this month is Feminine/Mother or Anything Goes!

I decided to try my hand at these little bowls – they are called candy bowls but when I was done I realized I had no candy in the house (shocker!! – I blame it on the “stay at home order, I must have eaten it all!!)

So I made two and filled one with shells and the other with tea bags.  I also think these can work as containers for my craft desk – they can hold all the little things that tend to get lost on my desk.

One was made with some flamingo paper, the other with flowery paper.

Here are the steps.

I started with a 9″ square piece of cardstock and scored it at 3″ on each side.

For the patterned pieces you will need the following:  9 pieces cut in 2 7/8″ square, and 8 pieces cut in 2.75″  square, which are then cut on the diagonal to give you 16 triangular pieces:

You will be covering both the inside and the outside of the bowl.  When placing the square pieces, the outside will have no piece in the center square, but on the inside you will place a piece in the center.  The photo below shows the outside of the bowl.

If you have a pattern that goes a certain way, make sure you position the pieces correctly so that when the bowl is folded up the pattern is right side up.

Next place the triangle pieces in  all the corners – again paying attention to patterns.  In this photo you see that I have a piece of patterned paper in the center square – this in the inside of the bowl.

Once you have all the pieces attached on the inside and outside, punch holes in the 4 corners as shown.

Next, thread ribbon through the holes and loosely tie a bow.

That is it for today!!  These bowls came together real easy and can be used to hold so many things.

I hope everything is going well wherever you are.  Stay safe!!

I Brake For…Florals Sheet

Hello stampers!  It’s my day on the I Brake For Stamps blog and I have a pretty floral card to show you to get you in the mood for spring!

I made the card into a pocket card using a die that creates the pocket.  The floral bouquet is from the Florals Sheet set, found HERE.  It includes not only this image but several other solid and line stamps and a few sentiments.

Here is what the card looks like when you pull it out of the pocket.  I colored the image with copics and chose a violet and yellow color combination for the blossoms.  I was not sure how it was going to turn out but once it was done I was pretty happy with it.  Since I wanted the image to take center stage I just added some sheer ribbon on the front.

I hope spring is on its way to wherever you are!  I am looking forward to getting my front yard in shape with some new annuals and will plant tomatoes at the end of March.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hop on over to the IBFS store  – there are so many flower and spring stamps to choose from – I know you will find something to like!  Use code SAVE10NANCY and get 10% off your order!

I Brake For….Gloriosa Daisy!

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps!  Spring is about a month away – are you all ready for it to show up?  We’ve had a mild February here in Florida, contrasting with a colder than normal January and I am ready for spring to make its mark.

My planters in the front yard took a hit this winter and I’ll have to do a bit of work next month in replacing a number of plants that did not survive.  Looking forward to it because it looks terrible right now!

So, with that in mind I have a pretty floral card for you…

The image is called Gloriosa Daisy – it can be found here.

These daisies have a bold dark red/orange center and yellow petals, so I kept with that color scheme – using copics to color the image.  I really think this would look pretty in shades of blue or pink as well. I stamped and colored the main bloom, cut it out and popped it up on top of the stamped image.

The sentiment is from a set called Florals Sheet, which can be found here.

Hop on over to the IBFS store – you will find thousands of stamps there.  There are many flower/floral stamps to choose from – I know you will find something you like!

I Brake For…Florals Sheet

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps.  My last two cards were all about fall, so this week I decided to go in a different direction and use this great floral set…

The stamps are part of a set called Florals Sheet that can be found here.  The great thing about this set is that not only does it include these open images in three sizes, but also has the same flower in solid images as well.   Additionally it includes several sentiments and a bouquet stamp.  It’s a great deal for the cost.

I went with a clean and simple design for the card.  Stamping all three sizes of the flower along the side of the card.   Breaking from my normal use of copic markers, I decided to use prisma pencils here – choosing a color scheme of blues and purples.

For the blue flowers I used :  Cloud Blue, Blue Violet Lake, Cerulean Blue, and Indanthrone Blue

For the purple flowers I used:  Greyed Lavender, Imperial Violet and Dioxazine Purple Hue

The centers were shaded with Black and Cool Grey.

The birthday sentiment is one of the stamps included in this set.

Hop on over to the IBFS store – there are thousands of stamps to choose from and  you are sure to find something to your liking!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

I Brake For …..Tulips!

Hello fellow stampers and thank you for joining me this Wednesday as I show another new stamp from I Brake For Stamps.

The image is called Tulip and can be found here as a single stamp, or part of a larger set called Lovely Florals, found here.  The sentiment called Be The Change can be found here.

I stamped the tulip once then masked it and stamped it again two more times.  It’s a beautifully drawn image and was easy to color up -I used copics in the RV and Y ranges for the blossoms and YG for the leaves.

I wanted the image to take center stage so I used primarily white cardstock with just some darker orange for the mat.,  An embossed background adds just enough texture.

So, it’s been quite a week here in Florida.  I am happy to report that since we live in the far northwest part of the state we did not see any of Hurricane Irma here.  It’s probably the only part of the state that did not.  Having been through two significant hurricanes since moving here I feel for those who have suffered losses from this storm.  It will take a long time for many people to recover and I am hoping for the best outcome for everyone.

Thank you so much for stopping by today .  I hope you will hop on over to the IBFS store to check out these new stamps in addition to the thousands of other stamps available there.

I Brake For…….. Kerr Jar

Hello my crafty friends!  I hope all is going well with you.  Are you ready for spring?  it is right around the corner and I can’t wait to see the pops of color as the flowers start to bloom.  We planted our annuals in the front last week and it was so nice to see something other than brown in the flower beds.

I have a wonderful spring like card to show you today.  A burst of color in some flowering blackberry /raspberry stems all delightfully placed in a Kerr mason jar:

The image is call Kerr Jar and can be found here in the IBFS store.

It’s a wonderful image to color.  I used a mix of copics and prisma pencils for the coloring, sticking with purples and pinks.  The blackberries have a touch of green on them to show they are not quite ripe yet.  I used a pierced oval die for the main image and an EK Success punch for the scallop portion on the bottom.  The paper is from Basic Grey and I had to add a little bling with green rhinestones.

Please be sure to stop by the IBFS store for more wonderfully detailed stamps! Remember to use code SAVE10NANCY for 10% off your order.
