Autumn birthday

Hello stampers..welcome to Octber!  We are now officially in the holiday season as we count down to Halloween,  Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Today I have a clean and simple autumn card.

I created this using the Penny black stamp called Softly and it’s coordinating stencil, along with memento inks. The simple lines on this stamp lend it to almost any occasion.

I started by stamping the image with black ink.

Then I placed the matching stencil over the stamped image and sponged on two shades of green ink, lightest first, over the leaves and stems.

 

Once that was done I sponged three colors of yellow/orange over the flower portions.

I die cut a smaller piece and did the same thing.   A sentiment from Papertrey was used on this front panel.

I Brake For…Florals Sheet

Hello stampers!  It’s my day on the I Brake For Stamps blog and I have a pretty floral card to show you to get you in the mood for spring!

I made the card into a pocket card using a die that creates the pocket.  The floral bouquet is from the Florals Sheet set, found HERE.  It includes not only this image but several other solid and line stamps and a few sentiments.

Here is what the card looks like when you pull it out of the pocket.  I colored the image with copics and chose a violet and yellow color combination for the blossoms.  I was not sure how it was going to turn out but once it was done I was pretty happy with it.  Since I wanted the image to take center stage I just added some sheer ribbon on the front.

I hope spring is on its way to wherever you are!  I am looking forward to getting my front yard in shape with some new annuals and will plant tomatoes at the end of March.

I Brake For….Gloriosa Daisy!

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps!  Spring is about a month away – are you all ready for it to show up?  We’ve had a mild February here in Florida, contrasting with a colder than normal January and I am ready for spring to make its mark.

My planters in the front yard took a hit this winter and I’ll have to do a bit of work next month in replacing a number of plants that did not survive.  Looking forward to it because it looks terrible right now!

So, with that in mind I have a pretty floral card for you…

The image is called Gloriosa Daisy – it can be found here.

These daisies have a bold dark red/orange center and yellow petals, so I kept with that color scheme – using copics to color the image.  I really think this would look pretty in shades of blue or pink as well. I stamped and colored the main bloom, cut it out and popped it up on top of the stamped image.

I Brake For…Florals Sheet

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps.  My last two cards were all about fall, so this week I decided to go in a different direction and use this great floral set…

The stamps are part of a set called Florals Sheet that can be found here.  The great thing about this set is that not only does it include these open images in three sizes, but also has the same flower in solid images as well.   Additionally it includes several sentiments and a bouquet stamp.  It’s a great deal for the cost.

I went with a clean and simple design for the card.  Stamping all three sizes of the flower along the side of the card.   Breaking from my normal use of copic markers, I decided to use prisma pencils here – choosing a color scheme of blues and purples.

For the blue flowers I used :  Cloud Blue, Blue Violet Lake, Cerulean Blue, and Indanthrone Blue

For the purple flowers I used:  Greyed Lavender, Imperial Violet and Dioxazine Purple Hue

The centers were shaded with Black and Cool Grey.

The birthday sentiment is one of the stamps included in this set.

I Brake For …..Tulips!

Hello fellow stampers and thank you for joining me this Wednesday as I show another new stamp from I Brake For Stamps.

The image is called Tulip and can be found here as a single stamp, or part of a larger set called Lovely Florals, found here.  The sentiment called Be The Change can be found here.

I stamped the tulip once then masked it and stamped it again two more times.  It’s a beautifully drawn image and was easy to color up -I used copics in the RV and Y ranges for the blossoms and YG for the leaves.

I wanted the image to take center stage so I used primarily white cardstock with just some darker orange for the mat.,  An embossed background adds just enough texture.

So, it’s been quite a week here in Florida.  I am happy to report that since we live in the far northwest part of the state we did not see any of Hurricane Irma here.  It’s probably the only part of the state that did not.  Having been through two significant hurricanes since moving here I feel for those who have suffered losses from this storm.  It will take a long time for many people to recover and I am hoping for the best outcome for everyone.

I Brake For…Large Picket Fence!

Hello stamping friends!!  Did you have a nice 4th of July holiday?   Ours was filled with burgers on the grill, ice cream and fireworks!!  We’ve reached the midpoint of summer and I thought I would share a pretty and cheery card with you.

The image is called Large Picket Fence and can be found at I Brake For Stamps here.  It was colored with copics but I can see this would look fantastic done in watercolor.   I used a frame die and banner die on the front.

I love the look of flowers growing up on a fence.  When I was a child the house next door to us had a white picket fence and beautiful roses climbing over much of it.  They were so pretty and had a wonderful fragrance.

The flowers in my current home are not on a fence but in  flower beds in the front yard.  A couple of years ago we redid the landscaping in the front yard, removing some boring bushes and planting a variety of flowers, bushes and trees.  Here are a few photos of some of our flowers that are currently blooming.  Hydrangeas, Coneflowers and Milkweed.

I Brake For….Bister!

Hello my stamping friends!  I hope you are all doing well.  Today’s card is using a product carried by I Brake For Stamps called Bister.  It’s my first time using it and I can see all sorts of possibilities.  You can find the Bister products at IBFS here. First, my card.

What is Bister?  Essentially water soluble wood stain, similar to watercolor powders, but these are different than what you may have seen elsewhere.  IBFS’s Bister comes from the Netherlands.  It’s a tiny bit more granular than other watercolor powders.  I believe it is made from crushed walnuts.  All colors have a wonderful earthy undertone to them.   They are very easy to work with – just sprinkle some on some watercolor paper and spritz on water.  Or you can put water on your paper first then sprinkle on the Bister.

In my experimenting I sprinkled some Blue and Green Bister on the paper and added water. ( I thought I had taken photos of he background before I assembled my card, but I did not – the background on the card shows a little bit of what it looks like.)

Next I took some Flower die cuts (from a Silhouette file) and did the same – here is my result.

And the ribbon?  I took some seam binding and wiped up the excess Bister and water from my craft sheet and ended up with some pretty dyed ribbon to coordinate!

I still had some errant Bister on my craft sheet so I added more water and using another piece of paper just wiped up the diluted color onto that paper.  This piece ended up being my base tag.

I wanted to try another color so I sprinkled some Mahogany Bister  onto paper….Oh My!!!!  The color was so beautiful!  I ended up cutting some leaf shapes with this color – here they are.  This color will look gorgeous for fall cards.  I have a bunch of leaf stamps and dies that will see  a lot of this Mahogany color! I added two of these leaves to my card.

SO..no stamps on this card – I’ll add a sentiment later when I decide who to send the card to, and for what occasion.

I hope you will give Bister powders a try – they are fun and easy to work with.  I made a feminine card here but because of their earthy colors I can see these being used for masculine cards, vintage, mixed media and so many other areas.

I Brake For …..Nature

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday and I Brake For Stamps.  Today I have a card that uses a beautiful sentiment paired with papers and embellishments.

This sentiment really speaks to me. Have you ever been somewhere so beautiful and find yourself simply at a loss for words?  It can be a majestic place like the Grand Canyon or something as simple as looking at a rainbow.  Whatever it is, it just makes you stop and enjoy the moment and be amazed at the miracles that nature provides.  My husband and I have had the pleasure of traveling, much of it in the US, as well as overseas and our favorite trips were those where we’ve witnessed the beauty of nature.   And at home each year when our lemon tree starts to bloom I love just standing by it and taking in  the sweet fragrance it gives off.  Like perfume for the backyard those delicate white blooms let me know spring has arrived. I’m sure those of you with gardens are rewarded with the sights and smells of nature each year.

Now – on to the card…..I pulled out a bunch of patterned paper for this one.  Lots of layers!  The frame and flowers are die cuts.

The sentiment Nature, found here, was stamped in a dark rose ink on white paper.  Before putting everything together I felt it needed some “bling” and found a pack of pearls in my stash and  thought it would work well with the design.

I Brake For….Flower Background

Hello stampers!  Welcome to another Wednesday showcasing the lovely stamps from I Brake For Stamps.  Here is my spring card…

The image is called Large Flower Background and measures 3 1/8 x 4.5.  It can be found at the IBFS store here.  Now, I had another completely different card in mind for this stamp…until I stamped it.  I saw how pretty the design was and thought it would make a wonderful focal point for a card.  I did not want to cover this pretty background with another image!!

I stamped it with Peeled Paint distress ink and colored the leaves and flowers with copics.  It really took no time at all to do this.  I paired the image with some digi papers  –  yellow in the background and striped paper in blue, green and yellow.  The sentiment is computer generated and cut out with a stitched circle die.  Just a little blue ribbon was added for an accent.

clean and simple wildflowers

Hello stamping friends!  Just popping in here to show a quick, clean and simple card I made today.

This came together so quickly – it actually took me longer to find the stamps than to make the card!  The stamps are mostly from Papertrey with one image from Starving Artistamps.  They were stamped with memento inks on watercolor paper.  I went back and forth trying to decide whether or not to add bling, more color, ribbon, etc.  In the end I just wanted something clean and simple.  This card design can be replicated easily and used for a variety of occasions by just changing the sentiment.
