Scor-Pal More than One Score Challenge

Hello stampers and welcome to another Scor-Pal challenge.

We have a theme that the Scor-Pal  Design Team will follow, and we would love you to follow too, but if you don’t want to you can do an “Anything Goes” creation as long as it follows the general rules
Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will.  Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.

Check out the blog HERE for the current challenge.

I made a Z fold card with a summery feel.

Patterned paper does much of the work for this card – I love the Flamingo pattern!

The card starts with paper measuring 6 x 10.5.  Score at 2 5/8 and 5.25.

For the inside I place a piece of white cardstock for the sentiment and die cut out the popsicles.

The scor-pal can be found here, and scor-tape can be found here.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge

Happy April!  It’s the start of a new Scor-Pal Challenge.

The Design Team at Scor-Pal love showing our projects to you and now it’s your chance to show your creations to us!
This month we want to see your “April Showers”  or “April Fool Us – using a hidden or surprise element” creations. Check out the detail on the Scor-Pal blog here.

You can find the Scor-Pal here and Scor-tape here.  I used both in my card.

Here is what the inside of the card looks like – the surprise is a little pop up cube complete with a flamingo!

Here are the components to make the card:

1 piece measuring 12″ x 5″ – score on the long side at 4″, 8″ and 10″.

1 piece measuring 2″ x 5″ – score on the long side at .5″, 2.5″ and 4.5″.

2 pieces measuring .5″ x 3″ – score on the long side at .5″ and 2.5:

Take patterned paper and cover the pieces as shown.  To measure the patterned paper I just cut each piece a quarter of an inch smaller than each section.  You don’t need to cover the 2 smallest  pieces as they will not be seen.

Don’t forget to cover the front of the card as well!

To make the cube – adhere the two small pieces to the inside of the 2 x 5 piece as shown below.

Attach it to the cube as shown below so that it folds flat when the card is closed.

When you add your elements to the inside of the cube test to make sure they close flat before you adhere anything.

I embellished the front of the card with some die cuts in coordinating paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Please go to the scor-pal blog and check out all the creations by the Design Team!

Scor-Pal More than one Score Challenge May – Anything Goes/Feminine/Mother

Hello crafty friends and welcome to another Scor-Pal Challenge for the month of May.

Each month Scor-Pal has a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will 🙂 Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.  You can find the Scor-Pal HERE.

The theme for this month is Feminine/Mother or Anything Goes!

I decided to try my hand at these little bowls – they are called candy bowls but when I was done I realized I had no candy in the house (shocker!! – I blame it on the “stay at home order, I must have eaten it all!!)

So I made two and filled one with shells and the other with tea bags.  I also think these can work as containers for my craft desk – they can hold all the little things that tend to get lost on my desk.

One was made with some flamingo paper, the other with flowery paper.

Here are the steps.

I started with a 9″ square piece of cardstock and scored it at 3″ on each side.

For the patterned pieces you will need the following:  9 pieces cut in 2 7/8″ square, and 8 pieces cut in 2.75″  square, which are then cut on the diagonal to give you 16 triangular pieces:

You will be covering both the inside and the outside of the bowl.  When placing the square pieces, the outside will have no piece in the center square, but on the inside you will place a piece in the center.  The photo below shows the outside of the bowl.

If you have a pattern that goes a certain way, make sure you position the pieces correctly so that when the bowl is folded up the pattern is right side up.

Next place the triangle pieces in  all the corners – again paying attention to patterns.  In this photo you see that I have a piece of patterned paper in the center square – this in the inside of the bowl.

Once you have all the pieces attached on the inside and outside, punch holes in the 4 corners as shown.

Next, thread ribbon through the holes and loosely tie a bow.

That is it for today!!  These bowls came together real easy and can be used to hold so many things.

I hope everything is going well wherever you are.  Stay safe!!

Flamingo Fun – Life is a Beach!

Hello stampers – are you ready for a summer card?  How about flamingos on a beach?

I made this card as a birthday card for a family member who loves flamingos.

All the stamps are from the Inkadinkado Flamingo Fun stamp set.  As much as I love all the stamps on this set (which is rare for me) I really don’t like the quality of these stamps, and many of the other stamps being sold at the big box stores.  They are made in China – I don’t believe they are polymer but silicone, which just does not stamp well.  These types of stamps will require a stamp positioner or some type of stamping platform because you will have to stamp it twice to get a good impression.  While I like the price (everyone buys these with their 40% or more off coupon), the quality is just not good.

Ok – just my two cents, moving on!!

Using a stamp positioner I stamped the image with memento tuxedo black ink and used a copic marker to make sand on the bottom.  I want to give a shout out to Sandy Allnock for a recent video she had on her YouTube channel that showed how she did a water and sand scene with a flamingo.  I followed her instructions to make this card

I added water to the card with a couple of blue copics and then colored up the flamingo with RV markers.

I aded some sand and a palm tree to complete the scene.

Finally I found some flamingo scrapbook paper and decided to make a coordinating envelope with my WRMK 123 Punch Board!    The paper is from a DCWV paper pack called Watercolor and the flamingos are gold .

Sisterhood of Crafters

Hello my fellow crafters.  I have some news to share with you today…I am now on the Design Team for the Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge Blog!! This blog offers challenge on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.    The challenge starting today is to make something representing the part of the world, country and/or state where you live.

I live in Florida  – which means I have so many things to choose from – anything Disney, beachy, tropical, fruity…and how about flamingos?

This super cute Flamingo stamp is from Viva Las Vegastamps and I’ve had it for years and actually started coloring it awhile ago, but never finished.  This challenge was perfect to push me to finish it and make it into a card.  The sentiment and tag die are from a Hampton Arts set.

Now…let’s talk flamingos shall we?  I love the bird – the color is pretty, they are tall birds and they walk funny!  But here in the Northwest part of Florida the only flamingos are in the zoo – they are not found in the wild up here.

Here are my two flamingo stories…

Several years ago my husband and I took a cruise to the southern Caribbean.  Once of the places  we visited was the beautiful  island of Bonaire.  Since we were only going to be on the island for a few hours we elected to take a guided excursion.  We saw one offered by the cruise that said “Flamingos!”  The description went on to describe how we would see these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. There were a few other island stops as part of the tour, but the focus was going to be on flamingos.  SO – sign me up!!  We hopped on the tour bus and it takes off,  The guide gets on the microphone and starts telling us all the sites and animals we will see.  And then he says we probably won’t see any flamingos…..

WHAT?????

I was dumbfounded.  The whole point of the tour was flamingos.  He went on to say that it had been dry lately and flamingos like wet areas and by they way they are shy and if there are any they won’t be very close…..

To say I was disappointed is an understatement but we were stuck on the bus at that point so there was nothing I could do.  We did the tour and at the very end the bus pulled up along this area where there was a very large pond.  The tour guide then pointed out that if we looked carefully we would se a flamingo way off  in the distance.   I squinted my eyes and noticed something pinkish way across the pond.  It may have been a flamingo, or a piece of pink cloth.  It was too far away to make out what is was……

So, after the tour ended we walked around town before heading back to the ship and I found a refrigerator magnet to remind me of my time in Bonaire – one that depicts the flamingos we did not see!!  Here is the magnet!

My second flamingo story is much better…  A few weeks ago Tropical Storm Cindy blew though here and dumped a bunch of rain on us.  The worst of the storm was west of us but we still ended up with a ton of rain.  Now, remember I said the only flamingos in our area are the ones in the local zoo?  Well the morning after TS Cindy came through people saw several flamingos on our local beach – Johnson Beach and snapped these photos.

Everyone thought they were escapees from the zoo, but the zoo reported that all their flamingos are accounted for.  So – these were real, wild flamingos!!  The experts think they got caught up in the storm and came up from the Yucatan Peninsula!  It was so cool to know we had some wild flamingos here!  I have no idea what ended up happening to them.  I hope they were able to find refuge somewhere along the beach.  The area of Johnson Beach is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and has many protected areas so it would have been the perfect place to land!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you will check out the Sisterhood of Crafters blog here and take part in this challenge.

sending sunshine

It’s hard to believe that some areas of the US are still getting snow – so glad I live in Florida!!  So – I decided to send some warmth up north via this card.

It was inspired by Theresa Mombers design shown here.  I used an image from Viva Las Vegas stamps along with Memento’s Dandelion and Cantelope ink for the sun.

Mark’s Finest Papers

Flamingos – sneak peek!

Living in Florida, beach themes are very common – and I have a few stamps that follow this theme, so I was happy to see this latest set from Mark’s Finest Papers, called Flamingos On Vacation – here is a sneak peek at this set, which will be released next week.

I stamped the images with Memento ink on white cardstock, stamped a second image with pink ink, cut out the body portion and pieced it onto one of the images.  A quick clean and simple card!

Cardstock and ribbon from MFP, patterned paper from Harmonie.
