I’m published in RubberStampMadness!!

Hello stampers!  Can I shout out some news?  I have a card in the current Holiday issue of RubberStampMadness!

One of the themes for this issue was “Holiday Memories” and I created this card..

The stamps are from  a Power Poppy set called Snuggle Down and were colored with copic markers.  The plaid background was made with a plaid stamp that is also included in the stamp set.

I was born and raised in Connecticut and hot cocoa was a staple in our house during the winter.  We did not have any of those “mix with water” packets  either.  It was whole milk warmed in a pan on the stove and then flavored with chocolate syrup – Bosco brand if I remember.  And occasionally my mom would have the mini marshmallows which was always a special treat!    Everyone had one of those red thermoses with the tan top.

I love the look and feel of this image.  The cup of cocoa with whipped cream and candy cane, the thermos made into an impromptu vase with some holiday greenery and the cute bottle brush tree on the end!

I hope your November is going well.  Now that Halloween is over with we are in full swing with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by today!

RubberStampMadness – I’m published!!

Hello stamping friends and welcome to the final month of summer.  Right now you are all probably seeing fall décor (and perhaps even Christmas stuff) in the stores, so I will join the crowd and show you this Halloween card I created that is published in the current issue of RubberStampMadness magazine!!!! Check out RSM’s site here.

The image is from Power Poppy and is just so sweet.   It’s available in digital format called Painting Pumpkins. The vignette of pumpkins comes in three versions as well as several sentiments.  I colored it with copic markers using traditional Halloween colors.

The patterned paper in the background part of a FREE Halloween digital paper pack from Shery K Designs that can be found here. She has a bunch of freebies on the site and I hope you will check it out.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Irish Tea Bag Holder

Hello fellow crafters!  I hope your Saturday is going well!

I realized today that I had just posted an Easter card and was wondering what to do next when it hit me that St. Patrick’s Day is a month before Easter!  So, I put together this quick tea bag holder with an Irish theme.

It opens up and can hold two tea bags.

The image is from Power Poppy and it is a digital image, so you can make it as large or small as you wish.  It was colored with copics.

I used a Scor-Pal scoring board to make this – actually used the scor-buddy, which is the smaller version.    I’m entering this in the monthly Scor-Pal challenge, which is “anything goes”.  You can get all the details here.

And I have a short video tutorial on how to make the holder.  I am working on a coloring video for the shamrock image and will post that later.  I hope you will tune in!

Baseball birthday card

Hello crafters!  I’ve been off the blog for over a month and now I am back on track.  We were out of town for part of December,  returning on Dec 21, where I then came down with a case of bronchitis.   Ugh..I dealt with that during Christmas and New Year’s and just now starting to feel like my old self .

I am hoping to do a bit more crafting this year.  I’ve done a bit of destashing in my craft room and getting rid of the clutter has helped.  I tossed a bunch of stuff, have a pile to donate and another pile for sale.

Some of you are done for the holiday season, let me tell you in my area it is still going strong.  We go from new years right into Mardi Gras season here along the northern gulf coast.  It officially kicks off today and will run through the actual day of Mardi Gras, which this year falls on March 5.  So let the good times roll!

My card today is a birthday card for a boy who likes baseball.  All the stamps are from Power Poppy.

The images were colored with copics.   Kraft cardstock was used, and I stamped the hat image in toffee ink to make a background .

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope your new year is off to a great start

Holiday Card and treat box

Hello friends!  Happy October!  Can you believe it is Halloween next week?  This year has flown by!  Today I am in full Christmas Holiday mode.

My local Michaels’ store recently had some Christmas holiday paper packs on sale – regular $19.99, on sale for $5.99 and I was able to use a 20% off coupon on sale items so they ended up being under $5.00 for 12 x 12 paper packs.  I ended up getting 3 different ones and I used some paper from one of them to make this card and box.

As you can see the colors are not really traditional.  Shades of blue and green mixed with a lavender – oh so pretty!!  I never considered lavender as a holiday color but it works well with the blue/green shades.

I stamped the wreath – from Power Poppy – with memento ink and colored with copics. You can’t tell from the photo but the berries are highlighted with a stardust gel pen for added sparkle.

The cute little treat box  was created in minutes using the WRMK 123 Punch board – but you can use the envelope punch board as well.  The sentiment is another Power Poppy stamp and works perfectly here.  I used two dies, one pierced circle and one ornament shaped and tied it to the box with silver cord.

I did a short video on how to make the box – here is the link.  Thanks for stopping by! #WRMK, #powerpoppy

Digi Daisy for Fall

Hello friends and happy fall!  Here in northwest Florida we have a different experience for fall.  The cooler weather does not hit until about November, so we are still seeing temperatures around 90 here.  It’s all ok though, pumpkin spice lattes  and all other thinks pumpkin flavored are readily available here!

I decided to take part in the Power Poppy Challenge, which is to create something with a pumpkin spice color theme.  Details here.

The Daisy image is a FREE digi from Power Poppy as part of their Kindness Is The Way digi set.  I believe it is still available as a free download.

I colored it with a bunch of prisma pencils in yellow, orange, browns and I think I may have used a mahogany color in there as well  The daisy was cut out and popped up on a piece of white card stock that was stamped using Memento cantaloupe ink and a Papertrey background stamp.  It is very light but gives just a touch of a pattern on the white paper.

I found some old Basic Grey patterned paper that had similar flowers on it along with the right colors.  The base card was embossd with a cuttlebug embossing folder – Oxford – and I just love that EF!

Thanks for stopping by today!

A challenging challenge!

Hello stampers!  Today I have another Christmas card for you .  I did this one for a challenge, which turned out to be a bit more “challenging” than I thought.

The card was made for Power Poppy’s Creative Confetti Challenge.  I started to read about it and was excited because I figured it would be all about coloring etc.  Then I read the details.

The challenge is for you to make a card using your birthstone as inspiration……..

My birthstone is…..pearl…..

Ok….white, grey, black,,,ugh….not exactly my idea of inspiring.  I was all set to pass on the challenge when I remembered that I had some shimmery white cardstock that had a sort of pearlescent quality to it and thought it would be good at least for some background. Now the photo does not do the simmery quality of the paper justice but it is very pretty  irl.

Then I broke out a bunch of dies to add a little  texture and “oomph”  to the paper to bring it out more.  I chose a simple and elegant image from Power Poppy’s Plain and Simple Wreaths set using some copic markers in the BG  and R series to bring out the color – I did learn that this paper is not the best for copics and ended up coloring the image three times.  I used a stardust gel pen to add sparkle on the white berries and on the red ribbon. The sentiment is from another Power Poppy set called Cozy Cupfuls.

All in all, I ended up with a pretty Christmas card so I am ahead of the game in that respect!!

Pinwheel envelope with tag

Hello crafters!  I am back today to share with you an easy to make an envelope – you can use it for a gift card or a nice note to someone.

I used some old Papetrey paper I’ve had sitting around awhile and paired it with a stamp from Power Poppy’s Olive and Oak stamp set.  The acorn and leaf image was colored with prisma pencils.  I used some tag dies to pull it all together.

I used the WRMK 123 punch board, but the envelope board will work as well.  Also used was a scoring board.

Here is a look at how the pinwheel envelope is created.

Cut some patterned paper to 8 ” square – this will yield an envelope about 4″ in size.   Put it on your envelope board (pattern side down)  and score at 3.25″ on each side.  DO NOT PUNCH!  Just score at 3.25.  This will give you diagonal fold lines.

Fold on the score lines and open up the paper.

The folds create small triangle sections on each side.  Cut each of these out.

Now take the paper – pattern side UP – and put in on your score board.  Score at the 1″ mark down to where you cut the little triangle piece.  Rotate to the left and do this for each section.

Lay  the paper  pattern side down and fold the left side in, and fold the small piece you scored over so that the blank side is showing.

Fold the bottom up and again fold the small scored piece over.

Fold the right side in and fold the small piece over.

Fold the top piece in and the small scored section over.

Now with the top piece, tuck it inside as shown in the photo below.

And the finished envelope will look like this.

Birthday Easel Card witt Vellum Envelope

Hello friends – I’m back with something other than Christmas!!  I made this cute Easel Card for a Facebook Group I am in.  It was my first easel card ever – can’t imagine how I have been paper crafting for 20 years and have not done one of these.

It is very simple to do…

First cut a piece of cardstock measuring 4 x 8.5.  Cut another piece 4 x 4.

On the long strip, punch the edge with a scalloped punch (or other design).  Then trim the entire piece to measure 8 ” long.  NOTE:   if you do not want to have a decorative edge, then just measure and cut the long piece so that it is 4 x 8.

Fold the long piece in half.

Fold the top flap in half up to the top.

Attach the 4 x 4 piece so that the upper half is attached to the piece you just folded up.

Now decorate as you wish!!

I used a bunch of different supplies for this card.  I colored primarily with prisma pencils with a little bit of copics, and a stardust gel pen was used to add some sparkle to the cake.

The cake and banner stamps are from Power Poppy, the sentiment on the card and the envelope are from Papertrey.

Square,  oval,  and circle die cuts were used, as well as a Martha Stewart punch.  Tiny pearls were added on the banner and flowers to finish it off.

The envelope…

I’ve been making a lot of my own envelopes lately – probably because I have the WRMK 123 board which makes it very easy to do.

I used Vellum to make a square envelope – I love the look of vellum envelopes!  Then added a belly band and sentiment on top.

The belly band was just a piece of vellum left over after I cut the sheet down to size to make the envelope.  I ran it through my cuttlebug with a swiss dot embossing folder.  Scalloped and pierced circle dies were used for the shapes for the envelope sentiment.
