Whimsical inspiration

I don’t have many cute and whimsical images, but when I saw this cute birdhouse stamp from Art Impressions,  it had my name all over it!  There are several people in my family who have birds, so I know I will get alot of use out of this stamp!

My first step was to chose the designer paper for the background – Basic Grey Urban Prarie.  The colors for the birdhouses were pulled from there.  The image was stamped in Palette Burnt Umber on watercolor paper.

I used copic markers to color the birdhouses and I must apologize for not knowing which colors I used.  I just went to my copic box and started pulling blues, pinks and yellows and trying them all out.   At least two and in the case of the pink birdhouse, 3 different shades were used for each color.

While copics were used on the birdhouses, water based markers were used for the greenery, flowers and sky.

Note the button on the uppper left corner…..I don’t own any buttons (have not jumped on that craze yet!!!), but I do have a few sizzix dies of buttons and that was used here.  I actually like the paper button better than an actual button – it seems to go with the whimsical look of the image.

Sizzix oval dies were also used for the sentiment, which is from Flourishes.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. What a lovely card. I love the colours that you used! It’s so pretty and soft. I have that button die as well and it’s great for mailing because it doesn’t add bulk to the card. TFS!
