Gift card technique – perfect timing!

This year almost all of my gifts are gift cards – my nieces and nephews seem to prefer them.  I like them because they are easy to buy and mail and when Splitcoast had a technique challenge on gift cards I went to work.

gift-cardoutside-finalOne of my gift cards is from Starbucks, so of course I had to do a coffee themed gift card enclosure!  The video instructions with the technical details are HERE, and I’ve modified them just a bit.  Instead of ending up with a square card, I wanted to use my long Nestabilities Curved Rectangles so I started with paper 12″ long as in the video, but 5.5″ tall to accomodate the large rectangle.   What I did was fold the paper as instructed, then punch the shape with the nestabilities, leaving the left side of the folded card not part of the cut out in order to preserve the fold. The paper is all Basic Grey, mostly from the Scarlett’s Letter collection.  I paper pierced the coffee cup and used Nestabilities Ovals to cut out the shapes.  The cup, swirls on the side and inside sentiment are all from Flourishes Simply Sophisticated set, Coffee with Friends, and Merry Christmas is from Flourishes Holiday Greetings  set.  The inside sentiment was stamped on a shape cut out with my new Slice Machine – which I absolutely love!  Sheer red ribbon and a red rhinestone finish it off.

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for stopping by!
